How I love making movies. The movies that impressed me as a child were ‘Hans Christian Anderson’ with Danny Kaye, ‘Apache’ with Burt Lancaster and ‘Deep in My Heart’ with José Ferrer. I’ve watched many films since the age of 5. I don’t have a ‘Top Ten’; maybe a ‘Top Hundred’. I enjoyed the films. They informed me. When I set out to make music videos Hollywood told me how I should edit. How long a shot should last. I added my own eccentricities to the rules. The next step is my own peculiar musical. As ever, Tarkovsky will be in the mix.
They’re Naked and They Dance So read the sign outside a strip club in London’s Soho I saw as an art student. I didn’t dare go in. I wrote the music for this one. Sadly my friend Charlie Gillett died before I could do anything with it.
KITES By Ultraviolet. Brendan Beal, sitting on the back of the kite, composed the music for several of my early success. The budget for this video was around half a shoestring.
THE JACK THAT HOUSE BUILT By Jack ‘n’ Chill on Charlie Gillett’s Oval Records. What days they were. House Music was cooking on gas, and I was the man for the job.

I’VE BEEN THINKIN’ ABOUT YOU By London Beat. Well, this was a big hit world-wide. It even took me to Hollywood. This is the original UK version. In America I wasn’t able to show black boys dancing with cute white English chicks.
MUYBRIDGE REVISITED Music by Brendan Beal. My first ever funded video. Thanks to the Arts Council. They gave me a start. This was shown on Channel4
WE HIT DE BOMP Inspired by my son Roman’s first experience in driving a golf kart on the exotic island of Mustique; guests of the late great Felix Dennis. Roman and I recorded this music together.
